Help People Find Their Way

Custom Church Signs for Buildings, Campuses & Congregations

Church signage has several jobs to do at once. It identifies the congregation, welcomes visitors, helps people find the right entrance, directs them to offices and classrooms, promotes events, and contributes to the overall appearance of the property.

Asheville Signworks designs, produces, and installs custom church signs throughout Asheville and Western North Carolina. Projects can include freestanding and monument signs, building identification, directional signs, ministry signs, banners, entrance signs, informational panels, and coordinated campus signage.

We can work with an existing sign structure that needs a new face, develop a completely new signage system, or simply produce one sign for a very specific need. Existing logos, colors, architecture, landscaping, and viewing distance are all considered when developing the finished design.

Below are a few examples of church signage produced and installed by Asheville Signworks.

First Baptist Church of Black Mountain custom freestanding sign installed in an existing brick monument structure

Freestanding Church Sign

First Baptist Church of Black Mountain

This project began with an existing U-shaped brick monument that had once supported a previous sign. What remained were two sets of rusty threaded rods protruding from the inside faces of the brick pillars — along with some equally rusty nuts that we hoped could still be saved.

We treated the old hardware with Kroil and gave it about 48 hours to work its magic. Once we knew the rods and nuts could be reused, we fabricated a pressure-treated wood framework that bolted directly to the existing hardware. The new sign was then installed securely within the original brick structure.

The finished sign gives the church a completely refreshed entrance without abandoning a perfectly usable monument base. A separate QR-code panel on the brick provides visitors with an easy way to access additional information.

Church Directional Signs

First Baptist Church of Black Mountain

A beautiful main sign gets visitors onto the property, but once they arrive they still need to know where to go. Asheville Signworks also produced and installed a coordinated series of building signs to help visitors navigate the church campus.

These Office and Sanctuary signs use the same logo, colors, and visual style as the main church sign, creating a consistent signage system throughout the property. Large white arrows and short labels make the directions easy to understand at a glance.

The signs were installed directly to the brick building. A hammer drill made short work of the masonry, and Tapcon fasteners provided secure attachment into the mortar.

Seasonal Church Banner

Celebrate Lent & Easter With Us!

Banners are an economical way for churches to promote seasonal services and special events without permanently changing their exterior signage. This one was designed to invite the community to celebrate Lent and Easter with the congregation.

Instead of producing a standard rectangle, we gave the banner a flowing custom contour that works with the sweeping lettering and rich blue-to-purple background. Large white text keeps the invitation readable, while perimeter grommets provide attachment points for installation.

Common Questions

Church Sign FAQs

Can you replace the sign in our existing brick monument?

Often, yes. Existing masonry, posts, frames, or mounting hardware may be reusable even when the original sign face is no longer serviceable. We can evaluate the existing structure and determine whether a replacement sign can be designed to work with it.

Can you make several signs that all match?

Yes. Main identification signs, building signs, directional signs, parking signs, and other campus signage can all use the same colors, logo, typography, shapes, and visual elements to create a coordinated system throughout the property.

Can you make directional signs for a church campus?

Yes. Directional signage can guide visitors to offices, sanctuaries, classrooms, fellowship halls, children's areas, parking, entrances, and other destinations. Short wording, large arrows, and consistent placement are especially important for effective wayfinding.

Do you make banners for church events?

Yes. Custom full-color banners can be produced for Easter, Christmas, Vacation Bible School, special services, community events, fundraisers, outreach programs, and other temporary announcements.

Can you put a QR code on a church sign?

Yes. QR codes can direct visitors to a church website, event page, visitor information, online giving, schedules, registration forms, or other digital resources. The code should be sized and positioned according to how closely people will be able to approach the sign.

Can you help design the signs if we already have a church logo?

Absolutely. We can use your existing logo, colors, and branding to develop signs that remain recognizable as part of the church's identity while also being clear and readable for visitors.
